Margaret Kuchy,
Managing Director | Risk & Operations
Margaret is a former Chief Information Officer (CIO) with a career spanning regulated healthcare, information systems, corporate real estate, licensing, and multi-site operations. Her work has included oversight of complex data environments, regulatory compliance, corporate development, and the licensing of medical cannabis facilities across multiple U.S. jurisdictions. She has also directed development and operational functions for urgent-care organizations, bringing together regulatory requirements, technology, facilities, and organizational risk.
Her experience gives her a practical understanding of how complex organizations operate, where compliance and accountability break down, and how decisions move across corporate structures. At MKA, Margaret leads governance, quality assurance, risk and compliance review, and client strategy. She brings executive judgment and an institutional perspective to investigations involving organizational conduct, regulatory exposure, due diligence, and complex business relationships.
Kaia Africanis, Ph.D.
Managing Director | Investigations & Intelligence
Kaia is a scientist, investigator, and strategic intelligence professional with expertise in regulatory analysis, geospatial intelligence, environmental systems, and complex evidence. Her career spans investigations into regulatory noncompliance, institutional practices, illicit wildlife trade, laboratory animal violations, and interconnected environmental and organizational networks. Her experience also includes service as an firefighter/EMT and assistant coroner, bringing direct experience in investigative judgment, incident response, and evidence-sensitive environments.
She has directed multidisciplinary teams and complex investigations requiring the interpretation of technical, regulatory, spatial, documentary, and open-source evidence. At MKA, she directs investigative strategy and intelligence engagements, applying OSINT, geospatial and network analysis, public-record intelligence, and rigorous research methods to resolve complex questions and deliver defensible findings to clients.
